Calgary home sales
were a hot issue in recent years. With home prices setting records every month for a while and supplies becoming more scarce as migrants continued to arrive, we saw real estate Calgary headlines almost daily in the
Calgary newspapers.
Real estate in Calgary may have been going nuts. If you are looking in this market now, here are a few features and principles that may help:
Calgary's population and attitude is young. More vibrant than the majority of North America,
particularily for adults born in the 1970's, give or take a few years.
Alberta has the lowest unemployment and tax rates as well, thereby attracting even more young people to boost Calgary home sales.
Our climate is dry. You can definitely tell when the season changes here, as is typical of continental climates. The main exception is winter, because anytime a chinook blows, it may feel like an early spring.
But it's a dry heat. We only get 400mm of rain a year, about 16 inches, and most of that is between May and July. A mild place with plenty of sunshine is a good location for a home.

Is Calgary property a good deal, for anyone, or for anyone in particular?
Was your lawyer and other professional good for you, and would you recommend one?
Are the homes in Calgary a good value? Still? Was financing easy to get?
What about renting? Maybe you have some experiences with that market to share.

Basic real estate terminology...
...to get you started.
We can have personal property, chattel, that we can take with us and real estate, immovable property.
Real estate is not any more real or tangible than the other types of property, from a legal point of view.
Instead, the name derives loosely from the Spanish translation for "royal estate", land owned by the Monarchy.
Real estate consistes of a parcel of land, very immovable, and the buildings situated on top of it. We also call man made features improvements on a property.
Lawyers in some locales also like to call it real property. The legal profession is a big part of Calgary home sales and a few more introductory points and definitions may be found on
this Wikipedia page.
