Come Check out Marlborough Calgary

Search for more about Calgary.

Find Marlborough Calgary not too far out...just over to the east on Highway #1. It's right south of the main highway, also known as 16th Avenue, and north of Memorial Drive; it's also between 36th and 52nd Streets. Look for the yellow number 167 on this map.

Marlborough Calgary

Most of the houses sprang up in this area in the early 1970's. A little over 8000 people now live in Marlborough. The Marlborough Community Association serves this neighbourhood with a 400 patron main hall, meeting rooms, BBQ, fireplace, gym, kitchen, lounge and sports playfields. People participate in bingo, seniors' programs and recreation as well as fitness opportunities.

Two features stand out for Marlborough. One is the overall real estate value. A shopper for a home will find that decent sized homes on decent sized lots can be found for low prices relative to most of the rest of the city. Here, you will find great starter family homes on quiet streets.

Getting around in Marlborough

Marlborough Calgary

The other feature is convenience. This is a partly suburban/partly inner city neighbourhood location where amenities are well-established and well-located. People like the short walks to handy places like the Marlborough C-Train station, BRT (another transportation option), the Sunridge Mall and Marlborough Mall all their shops contained within and other retail complexes between them and along 36 Street.

Driving is easy with Memorial Drive and 16th Avenue providing service to Deerfoot Trail, Stoney Trail, downtown and the airport. On the other hand, these transportation routes remain far enough away not to be on your doorstep.  In other words the noise and transient traffic is well-controlled.

Marlborough Calgary School Options

And what about the schools available for your family? The Calgary Board of Education provides the Marlborough and Chris Akkerman School for kids in kindergarten up to and including grade 6, Bob Edwards Junior High School for 7 to 9, and Forest Lawn High School after that.  It's just a few blocks south of Memorial Drive and east of 36 Street.

Similarly, the Calgary Catholic School District offers Holy Redeemer and St. Mark for K to 6, St. Martha for K to 9 and Father Lacombe High School (on 36th just south of Memorial)  for 10 to 12.
